Bernhard Jäger is Research Manager and Department Lead at SYNYO with a focus on security research. He holds a master degree in sociology and a bachelor of arts in communication studies. As project researcher and coordinator, he has approved long term experience in successfully concepting and managing social and ICT based research projects. Before he started to work for SYNYO he was a project researcher at the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology at the University of Vienna where he gathered extensive knowledge on deviant and criminal behaviour of individuals and masses, policing, crowd control, criminal justice and crime prevention. Besides his expertise on qualitative and quantitative research methods he also gained experience in usability, accessibility, user experience methods, user interface prototyping and design. At SYNYO Bernhard was concepting and managing a multitude of projects in different funding programmes in the security domain such as KIRAS (Social Media Crime, IMOPOL, IoThreats), FP7 (Graffolution) and Horizon 2020 (PeaceTraining.eu, TAKEDOWN) in which he extended his knowledge on Cyber Security, Organized Crime and Terrorist Networks as well as on Radicalization and Prevention. Based on his experience in setting up and coordinating projects Bernhard also has developed comprehensive project management skills. Since 2017 Bernhard is in his role as Department Lead responsible for the overall coordination of running security research projects at SYNYO.

Bernhard Jäger is Research Manager and Department Lead at SYNYO. He holds a master degree in sociology and a bachelor of arts in communication studies. As project researcher and coordinator, he has approved long term experience in successfully concepting and managing social and ICT based research projects. Before he started to work for SYNYO he was working at the Paul Lazarsfeld Gesellschaft für Sozialforschung (PLG) and the Austrian Institute of Youth Research (ÖIJ) where he was involved in research projects on Labour Market, Health Care, ICT Usage and Youth Delinquency. As project researcher at the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology at the University of Vienna he gathered extensive knowledge on deviant and criminal behaviour of individuals and masses, policing, crowd control, criminal justice and crime prevention. Besides his expertise on qualitative and quantitative research methods he also gained experience in usability, accessibility, user experience methods, user interface prototyping and design. At SYNYO Bernhard was concepting and managing a multitude of projects in different funding programmes (including KIRAS, benefit, FP7, Horizon 2020) during the last years in which he also extended his knowledge on Open and Big Data, Social Media Analytics, Cyber Security, Organized Crime and Terrorist Networks as well as on Radicalization and Prevention. Based on his experience in setting up and coordinating projects Bernhard also has developed comprehensive project management skills. Since 2017 Bernhard is in his role as Department Lead responsible for the overall coordination of running research projects at SYNYO.
