Z Community Policing in the UK

  •  Regatul Unit
  •  Data începerii: 1st January 2014
Descriere

Community Policing is at the very heart of daily duties to protect and serve the 300,000 people who live in, work within and visit the City of London. Police officers and PCSOs work with City communities across three specific teams – Residential, Business and Street Intervention.
This structured approach helps focus our work within both the residential and business sectors of the City, while maintaining an active presence on the streets and helping to prevent crime.
Positioning teams in this way makes for smarter, more efficient working with communities.
The teams have an integrated approach and share their knowledge and skills to help each other - to help the citizens. This style of policing is designed to meet today’s and tomorrow’s challenges in an ever-evolving vibrant City culture.

Obiective

The City of London Police works with local communities and businesses to identify sensitive cultural and politically relevant tensions and grievances.
They support the wider engagement activities already taking place in educational establishments, places of worship, work and community groups in the City of London. Through this work the team aims to strengthen communities in order that they may challenge the ideologies and messages of hate which lead to terrorism.

Sustenabilitate

The City of London experiences low levels of crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour. This reflects the efforts of the City of London Police, the City of London Corporation and many other partners. Working together they contribute to maintaining the City as the world’s leading financial and business centre as well as being an attractive place to live, socialise and visit. Since its establishment, the Safer City Partnership (SCP) has played a key role in reducing crime and other harms.

Transferabilitate

The Safer City Partnership has worked together to identify the priorities for the City of London. In order for this model to be transferable other cities should study their emerging concerns, national/regional priorities and documents that provide their area’s Strategic Assessment. Given the ever-evolving nature of the different communities and changes in crime and other threats each city/country need to be flexible and agile in their responses.
