Dr. Florian Huber

Florian Huber is a Research Manager at SYNYO GmbH. He coordinates/coordinated the EU-H2020-Projects TAKEDOWN and SciChallenge, the national KIRAS-project Counter Stories, and he represents the company in the H2020-projects MINDb4ACT and MIICT as well as in the European ISFP-projects CHAMPIONs and ARMOuR. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Vienna and has experience in research on urban issues, migration and social inequality. Since 2009, he held several teaching positions at the University of Vienna and the FH Campus Wien. From 2012 to 2014, he was a post-doc-researcher in a WWTF-project. From 2014 to 2015, Dr. Huber was conducting research in a project for the City of Vienna (MA50-Housing Research) on the effects of urban renewal. In 2014, he was furthermore doing a project on vacant commercial space in Linz, which was funded by the Federal Chancellery, the City of Linz and the federal state of Upper-Austria. Before joining SYNYO, he had a University-Assistant position at the Department of Sociology at the University of Vienna. Dr. Huber has published two books and several articles on sociological topics. He has presented his work at international conferences and at several other occasions. Furthermore, he appeared as an expert on the radio as well as in newspapers and magazines. In 2012, he received the Theodor-Körner Award for his PhD-thesis, and in 2014 he was awarded for Innovative Cultural Work in Neighborhoods by the City of Linz.
