Hedayah International Center of Excellence for Countering Violent Extremism is a think tank based in Abu Dhabi. Its main thematic areas of work comprise capacity building for communities and NGOs, dialogue and communication with survivors of terrorism, communities and civil society initiatives, media work and the development of counter-narratives to narratives of extremist oorganisations and groups, national CVE strategies, the foreign fighters phenomenon, CVE and education, deradicalisation, disengagement and reintegration, as well as research and analysis on radicalisation and violent extremism.

Coordination Patterns

Hedayah's governing structure includes a Chairman, an Executive Director, a Steering Board, and an Advisory Board.

Role of the EU

The EU is part of Hedayah's Steering Board. Also, Hedayah is funded through the EU's STRIVE programme (Strengthening Resilience to Violence and  Extremism Global program) and at the same time is in charge of carrying out a variety of programmes and projects to support local-level initiatives with funds under the umbrella of the STRIVE programme.

Relevance for the EU

STRIVE programme carried out by Hedayah allows the EU to access and include local level initiatives and vulnerable groups into P/CVE activities.
