Key findings

Debating is an effective teaching method capable of fostering learning in an authentic and situated manner: authentic because students are responsible for constructing the concepts and reasoning used in their speeches; situated because students learn through active participation in a specific context: the debating context. It therefore allows excellence to be enhanced and students with weaknesses to be strengthened. It develops significant analytical, critical, argumentative and communicative skills, both verbal and non-verbal, with a view to democratic and participatory citizenship education. However, Not all students might engage in the same way and with the same efforts.
